The 2025 Dodge Charger EV is the best Hybrid SUV in 2025 and is the clearest indicator that electric vehicles are starting to take control. Moving one of the most powerful muscle cars is a significant effort, but it provides significant performance benefits. Increasing performance to Hellcat levels will of course result in a reduced range estimate. Speaking of which, Dodge hasn’t published much information about the new Charger’s powertrain, but we can clearly see the car doing a burnout on four wheels in a YouTube teaser video for the concept car.

Dodge also hinted at future cars with significantly more horsepower and advanced 800-volt technology, like the SRT Banshee. Rather than a traditional four-door layout, the Charger concept was designed as a coupe. The trunk lid is a liftback-style component that opens up to a spacious cargo compartment, and Dodge claims the rear seats fold flat to offer more capacity for moving larger objects, like new tires. A wide panoramic glass sunroof, slim pistol-grip gear lever and a fighter jet-style retractable ignition cover are also visible. The interior design combines the latest technology with retro design concepts, including textured trim that resembles the grille treatment of a 1968 Charger.

2025 Dodge Charger EV Performance

The 2025 Dodge Charger EV hasn’t revealed how many engines will power the various grades of Charger, but the base 340 model is rumored to make 455 horsepower, while the mid-level 440 model makes 590 horsepower. The high-powered trim, allegedly named SRT Banshee, will feature an 800-volt all-wheel-drive architecture, although horsepower ratings for the vehicle have yet to be confirmed. We also know that the concept car uses a multi-speed gearbox rather than a traditional EV direct drive system. This is not a new idea; The Porsche Taycan has a similar setup intended to improve performance and range at higher speeds. It also simulates gear changes under heavy acceleration.

With the exception of automated emergency braking and rear park assist, the Charger lacks the most popular active safety features. However, the pricey Plus Group adds blind-spot recognition and a rear cross-traffic alert. Rain-sensing wipers, automated high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist are all available with the $1,895 Technology Package.

Competitors to consider

With its new electric motor, the Charger is truly in a class of its own. American muscle cars aren’t exactly hard to come by these days. That said, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette are clear substitutes for the Dodge. Although the two cars are quite different in appearance, they still fulfill the Charger’s mission of providing incredible horsepower and a traditional American design.
